Back in Labe after site visit

sooo ignore the lack of punctuation and capital letters im using the french keyboard

so we did a whirlwind tour of 8 sites in a day and a half. my site name is kankalabe and its a pretty bumpin town. my house is big and my principal and other official that i met are both really nice. the fouta is full of beautiful rides, but terrible roads. luckily no one got too sick and we got to see a lot of towns. now we get to take a breather and relax and hang out with americans.

sorry these posts are brief, but ill do better at answering speciic questions.

my site is kind of a hub for a good cluster of volunteers. lisa conor and joe are all really close on guinea terms so thats awesome.

site was great. gets me really excited for it, but also makes the whole being a peace corps volunteer very real.

love you all and keep in touch

So, cool you get a house, big and bare? Wonder how furnished these places are. Is it a house currently occupied by Lisa, conor or Joe? I thought you were going to be the only PCV in Kankalabe. Maybe not. Nice you got to explore a wider area, even if visit was short. Hope you find an internet cafe closer than Labe, since I think it's 130 miles away or so.

take care, miss you and love you,
mom

Hey Rachel!

Sounds like things are going really well, which is really awesome. If you run into any problems, just think about how they solved things on Gilligan’s island, for example, building cars out of bamboo and banana leaves, which I’m sure are abundant in your part of Africa. I wish I had something more valuable to write, but I don’t, except that I thought I saw you in Oakland yesterday, which means that people have turned to impersonating you because they miss you so much. Anyway, I’m getting pumped up for hockey season, as I know you are, so I’ll send you some things to display your team spirit in case the locals root for the Flyers.

All joking aside (though I really will send you something), everyone misses you and we wish you the best!

Take Care,
-Dave

Wonderful, two epistles 3 days apart! What is a fouta? Does principal speak English or French? Posts are brief, but cherished, Honeyg comes as soon as I say Rachel has blogged again. Being a Peace Corps volunteer is very real, glad you have thrilling site, shows your guidelines are realistic, positive. Gotta get better map of Guinea. We had no rain or anything from Hurricane Fay, but got to exercise generator. Honeyg going to surgeon hopefully last time tomorrow, she is walking well with some pain. We love you, Popop

Rach!
Is your address changing now from the one in Conakry to your site? If so, can you post it somewhere? I was hoping to write you a letter soon, but I would hate for it to get lost. Also, have you run into a Bess & Jered Alden? They are some friends who I found out recently are also PCV in Guinea! Weird. Sounds like you are doing great, and I hope all is well.

I Miss you!
Max

Hey Rach!

Hope you are doing well! I just spent the weekend in Pittsburgh for Matt's 21st and it was soo strange not to see you up there! We were thinking about you and wishing you were there, so I thought I would say hi. Hopefully you will get Matt and my letters soon, but if not, we miss you and hope you are having an awesome time!
